Stamps hang together

If the upper and lower stamps are stuck together and can no longer be removed, it should look something like this picture. You can usually move the lever back and forth... But the upper punch simply stays down and you can't turn anything anymore.

Why is that happend?

For example, you may have accidentally inserted two tops instead of just one. This actually happens more often than you think, it even happens regularly in our own button production. Or there are too many foils or paper inserts, or maybe the paper is simply too thick. If there is simply “too much” in the upper stamp, it will jam with the lower stamp

You can try the two solutions described below.

First the light version:

Take the badge machine and gently hit it on the floor with the rubber feet. Do it very gently at first, then (if nothing happens) press it a little harder. As long as the machine stands with the rubber feet, nothing can actually happen. But you should do it with feeling and not with brute force. With a bit of luck, the upper punch and the bottom punch will come loose and you can take the parts out and see what there may have been too much of. If nothing was obviously "too much", perhaps the machine has simply choked and it can continue.

If that doesn't help, there is a slightly more brutal solution:

Use a sharp object such as a screwdriver. Be careful not to use anything that can easily break off and potentially injure you, such as the tip of a knife. Place something soft around it, such as some form of cloth or fabric. Now you can try to go between the upper and lower stamps and pry the whole thing open. We would do the same here. Just be careful not to damage the coating (hence the cloth).
