Upper stamp does not absorb paper and foil and leaves only an imprint

In this case, the upper stamp does not come down far enough for some reason, so that the button top, paper and foil are not picked up at all.

Solution 1: pull the lever down harder

Did you pull the lever a little too timidly? Pull a little harder again. That does happen and we all prefer the simplest solution anyway, don't we? ;)

Solution 2: insert the Flexi stamp correctly

If you have a Flexi machine, it may be that you have inserted the lower stamp incorrectly. Then the upper stamp does not come down far enough. Pay attention to the labels on the swivel plate: the lower stamp with the 1 goes on the 1, the 2 on the 2.

Solution 3: tighten the upper stamp

Whether Flexi or type 900 - if the upper stamp is loose, it may be that the fork on the cap nut on the bridge is touching. Then the lever cannot be pulled down far enough and therefore cannot pick up anything. At most, it will leave a sad imprint on the foil or paper. In this case, the upper stamp must be reattached. With the type 900, you must tighten the screw in the upper stamp with a suitable Allen key. With the Flexi machine, first remove all stamps (upper and lower stamps) and then tighten the screw that attaches the Flexi holder to the bridge. Solution 4: Position the spacer sleeve correctly Spacer sleeves are installed in the two lower stamps. They regulate how far the lower stamp can be pressed down. It can happen that the spacer sleeve gets jammed with the spring and is no longer movable. Then it can happen that the lower stamp with the 1 is no longer movable enough and can no longer "come down" far enough. If you shake your button machine a little, the spacer sleeves should make a clacking noise. To rule out that the spacer sleeve is the problem, remove the lower stamp from the Flexi. Then you take it firmly in both hands (place the palms of your hands on the edges of the lower stamp and position your fingers on the spring plate below). Then press firmly together a few times. Unfortunately, this is a bit more complicated with the Type 900 because you cannot remove the stamps.
