If the lower punch no longer fits under the lower punch, the swivel plate can no longer be swiveled without the lower punch scraping against the upper punch. There can be various reasons for this:
Upper stamp or Flexi holder loose
If the upper stamp (on the button machine type 900) is no longer completely tight or the Flexi holder on the Flexi is no longer tight, then the upper stamp is hanging too far down. To do this, you have to tighten the screw that attaches the upper stamp or the Flexi holder to the bridge. You can read exactly how to do this at this link here (step 1)
Lower stamp loose
If one of the two lower stamps is no longer screwed together as tightly as it should be, then it may be that it is too high, so to speak, which is why it no longer fits under the upper stamp. You can rule this out by tightening the screws that hold the lower stamps together. To do this, on the button machine type 900, simply tighten the screws that hold the lower stamps together. You will find them on the underside of the lower stamps and you can reach them through the two holes in the base plate. Alternatively, you can place the swivel plate sideways and then reach and tighten the screws. With the Flexi, it is even easier because you can simply take out the lower stamps, hold them in your hand and tighten the screws.
Flexi bracket too loose
If you have a Flexi machine, there may also be something wrong with the ball screws that the Flexi bracket uses to hold the upper punch. This in turn means that the upper punch is not sitting properly and is hanging too far down. Either the ball screws are not adjusted correctly or one or more are broken.
