How it works:
You take the paper with the design you want to cut into the right size. You pre-cut it roughly into a rectangular or square shape. Then you put it onto the stamping block and center the design with the help of the band steel blad. There is a big hole in the middle of it to look through. Now you turn the swivelling plate with the stamping block and band steel blade so that in the end it is under the pressure plate. Pull the lever - smoothly! You do not need pressure which you need for making a button. Do it much much more smoothly. Ready! In this video below you can see this much more detailed.
The cutting tool for your Flexi
Now you can cut paper and fabric into the right size easily with your Badgematic Flexi badge maker. This stamping tool must be put into your Flexi ground machine just as you put in your button die sets. This only takes a few seconds and you do not need any tool to do that. If you have several button sizes, then you only need this stamping block and pressure plate once. For the different button sizes (diameters) you only need the according band steel blade. You need one band steel blade per button size. You can cut up to 6 paper inlays at once (if you use 80-90g paper, if you use different paper it will be not the same probably). You can even cut fabric into the perfect diameter and form this way. Of course it always depends on the constitution of the fabric. Not any fabric can be cut, depending on thickness and elasticity.
Find the right pressure:
Concerning the right pressure for pulling the lever you need a little bit of practice and try and error. It is hard to name the right pressure and to explain it. Try to give just as much pressure as necessary for cutting the paper inlay and as little as possible. The more pressure you give the deeper will be the grooves in your stamping block (these grooves do not badly influence the functioning by the way). If you only pull the lever as far as necessary, this will also be the most careful way to treat your blade and it will last longer then. You can even try to train your ear into this direction. So that you will be able to hear when the paper is already cut. The steel is quite hard and punces the paper very quickly. If your blade should be blunt at any time, you only need to get a new blade. Unfortunately it is not possible for us (and also not for the manufacturer of the band steel blade) to name exactyl how long the blade wll last or how many paper inlays you can punch until you need a new one. This is depending on different factors.
Diameter of paper inlays:
To perfectly center your design, you should create a help line on your printing. It should be the same size as the outer diamter of the punching blade. If you put your punching blade into it, the design is perfectly centered and cut.
- For 25 mm Button: 32,6 mm, helpline at 42 mm
- For 32 mm Button: 41,4 mm, helpline at 51 mm
- For 38 mm Button: 51,0 mm, helpline at 61 mm
- For 50 mm Button: 61,1 mm, helpline at 71 mm
- For 59 mm Button: 69,8 mm, helpline at 79 mm
For 75 mm and rectangular buttons 68x44 mm this is not available, sorry.
