What can you do with buttons?

A colorful, inspiring collection

That is the big question here. And I emphasize: No. This is NOT about the fundamental right to exist of buttons. This is indisputably as good as untouchable (!). At the very latest, once you have read a few of our colorful button stories, you will have to agree with me completely and without resistance.

Here we present you with a colorful collection of stories about buttons. These are a variety of real projects in which buttons play a role and are the solution to a problem or answer to a need. There are wonderful people behind them, with ideas that could hardly be more different. In each of these stories, our buttons have either solved a problem, represented an enrichment, satisfied a need or simply brought joy.

No matter how experienced you are with buttons, there is sure to be one or two stories that will amaze you at least a little bit. The anecdotes are small, colorful, happy, sad, touching, hopeful, beautiful, surprising, perhaps even disturbing for some people...? Or just amusing. All in all, this multifaceted collection shows how versatile buttons are and that the classic advertising button with the needle can at most be the tip of the gigantic iceberg. Take a little time to browse through, be open-minded and let yourself be inspired. And most importantly: send us YOUR button story! Become part of this colorful collection and be an inspiration to others.

Our button stories:

At the end of February 2022, there will be an escalation between Russia and Ukraine and another war will break out. During this time, signs will be made, including with buttons for peace...

A super cool woman who is on a mission in Berlin on behalf of all women who have ever been harassed with unwanted dick pics. She sells buttons with THESE on them. Why? You can read about it here... And it makes soooo much sense...!!!

This is about campers, freedom, tolerance and helpfulness. In 2021, the roof tent nomads founded an organization to help victims of the flood disaster in Germany. Here you can find out what our buttons have to do with it.

The Wish Bus grants the last wishes of seriously ill people. A final trip to the seaside or to a game in the stadium, for example. The passengers and their relatives should always remember this day. This is where our buttons come into play.

It all started with these questions...

It all started with an ad in the usual suspect social media channels Facebook and Instagram. For a button machine... Our online marketing experts from Cows Online quickly defined target groups and other parameters in order to tailor the ad to relevant users and display it accordingly. Great! And then something happened that made me, as a long-time button ambassador and decades-long employee here at Badgematic, shudder. The ad was very successful and reaped enormous reach and conversions (which is NOT horrible at first, but extremely pleasing). AND... Many users who came across our ad apparently couldn't really do much with a button machine... OK, so far so good. Maybe it's not comparable to the popularity of a smartphone...

BUT: Despite ignorance and supposed lack of interest in this topic, many users did not shy away from using a few seconds of their precious time to leave a comment under the ad:

What are buttons for? What is that for? What is that for? Buttons, isn't that so 80s? Things the world doesn't need... Is that a can opener? What do you do with it, advertising?

Somehow this topic seemed to interest these people enough to get them to interact. They wanted to know the answer to their question: Why buttons? And then I realized: Ooook… I guess that's what you call being blind to the facts.

You've been working here for so long and are so into this topic... You don't even realize that there is educational work to be done. People are STILL not aware of what buttons can actually be used for. It is not sufficiently clear that buttons don't always have to have a crappy pin on them, but maybe for a change with a high-quality mirror back or a magnet.

Far too few kindergarten children will ever have the pleasure of being able to make their own earrings with their own painted unicorn motif at a child's birthday party... That's not how it works.

The questions must be answered!

And so I decided to create the content series "Buttons 4 Stories". Long overdue, I think...
