Buttons for the flood relief workers

Our buttons are being used in a particularly honorable way in the Ahrweiler camp of the roof tent nomads. This special story about the use of buttons deserves its own content page more than almost any other:

Armed with a jackhammer, cable drum, generator, shovel and wheelbarrow, the hard-working helpers of the roof tent nomads have been on the move in the Ahr Valley since summer 2021. There, on the night of July 14-15, 2021, rainfall of up to 150 liters per square meter caused a devastating flood disaster. Within a few hours, the water of the Ahr and its tributaries rose to a level of 7 to 8 meters in many places. The previous record was 3.71 meters.

Villages, campsites and meadows in the Ahr Valley were simply swallowed up. Many houses were under water up to the ceiling of the first floor. 180 people lost their lives in the floods.

The roof tent nomads are lending a helping hand to homeowners affected by the devastating flood disaster. Plaster, ceilings, screed, simply EVERYTHING has to go. The houses that fell victim to the incredible masses of water have to be restored to their original state. There was and still is a lot to do! Every helping hand counts. They have been working tirelessly for over 100 days (as of today) with over 1,600 helpers. They have already given many people whose existences were in ruins that one spark of hope that is urgently needed. You deserve all of our respect for that!

A name button for each helper

Name badges were needed so that the many hard-working helpers could be addressed by name. And they had to be quick and easy to produce so that every new "recruit" could be equipped immediately. We at Badgematic were happy to donate a badge machine for this purpose. Since then, in addition to new hope and between many helping hands doing hard physical work, lots of 59 mm badges with the names of the helpers have been produced.

This creates an overview, simplifies communication and strengthens the sense of community. We are very proud that our button machine has found a place at Dachzeltnomaden and we feel honored that we were able to support you.

By the way: Just because the effects of the devastating disasters are no longer reported on every day on television and radio, that does not mean that the issue is over. There is still a lot to do every day and there are still people who need help.
